My Australia Day

I am Australian by choice.

I think that is just as powerful as living here by default.

I am also Filipino.

26 January is the anniversary of the arrival of the First Fleet of 11 convict ships from Britain in 1788. And on this day we celebrate Australia Day.

Fusion of cultures...celebrating Australia Day under the shade of a mango tree...under the bridge

Snags (sausages) on the traditional Aussie barbie (bbq)

Traditional dessert

Fusion again...bbqed meat on Thai inspired salad

New generation of Aussies

Glimpse of fireworks

Hi Beancounter,

I'm a native Australian, and I totally agree with you that choosing to be Australian is as meaningful has having been born here - in fact, it's much more powerful. Enjoying the blog.

And thanks for taking the time to read my blog...

Dax, we're the Au state that grow mangoes. Iba ibang varieties except for the Pinoy ones...

Absolutely Malou!

How does it fare with Pinoy mangga?

I could feel how you feel. Tama ka, we chose to be where we want to be and also feel proud of where we came from.

Thanks Nomad for empathising...i think unless you've actually made the same decision it's hard to explain...

Dax, there's an aussie variety called Kensington Pride. The taste is pretty close to Pinoy mangoes pero ours remain the best IMO. They look like "indian mangoes" on steroids... OK din sya kahit hilaw...
